Epiphyte, pendulous, to 40 cm long. Rhizome stem-like, hardly branched. Roots filiform, glabrous. Pseudobulbs 2-6 cm apart, conical-cylindrical, 3-4.5 by 0.4-0.7 cm below the middle; 1-leaved. Leaf lanceolate-ligulate, acuminate, 8-13 by 1.7-2.2 cm near the middle; base narrowed. Inflorescences 1-flowered, short, with a few small peduncle-scales, 0.8 cm long. Floral bracts apiculate, much shorter than the pedicellate ovary. Sepals lanceolate, subobtuse, 0.9 cm long, in the middle the margins minutely and densely finely ciliate. Lateral sepals oblique, lower margin finely ciliate. Petals obliquely rhombic-lanceolate, subacute, 0.5 cm long; margins more or less irregular. Lip somewhat fleshy, tongue-shaped, obtuse, 0.7 cm long; base subcordate, minutely clawed; above the base on either side papillose; above tricallose; underneath longitudinally pitted. Column short; stelidia subulate; column-foot somewhat incurved. Ovary shortly pedicellate, glabrous, 0.5 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1913)


Flower dark purple. Petals lighter, spotted red. Lip at the base white.

Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 500-1300 m.
