Synonyms:
Epiphyte, stout, to 45 cm high. Rhizome very short. Roots filiform, flexuose, lepidote-rough-prickly. Pseudobulbs ovoid, 4-5 by 1.5-2 cm below the middle; 1-leaved. Leaf erect, elliptic-ligulate, obtuse, 20-25 by 5-5.5 cm near the middle; base petiolate, petiole 3.5-5 cm long. Inflorescence 2-3-flowered, erect, terete, with a few distant peduncle-scales, to 40 cm high. Floral bracts elliptic, cucullate, much shorter than the pedicellate ovary. Flowers erect, large, glabrous. Sepals lanceolate, caudate-acuminate. Median sepal 5 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, outside keeled, 8.5 cm long. Petals obliquely oblong, acuminate, 2 cm long. Lip fleshy, lanceolate-tongue-shaped, subobtuse, as long as the petals; base in the middle 2-ribbed; above with triangular, irregular teeth. Column thick, short; stelidia porrect, subulate, on either side sublobulate. Anther helmet shaped-cucullate, in front emarginate, glabrous. Pedicel and ovary glabrous, c. 2.5 cm long. Flower yellowish. Sepals at the base spotted red. Lip with red warts.
Epiphyte in lower montane forest; 800-1350 m.
Malesia (New Guinea).
Intermediate growing epiphyte.
