Flowers: pedicel and ovary c. 0.95 cm long; basal node c. 0.12 cm above the floral bract attachment. Median sepal free, recurved, elliptic, c. 0.45 by 0.18 cm, index c. 2.5; margins entire, minutely papillose; apex acute-acuminate; glabrous; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals free, recurved, triangular, c. 0.44 by 0.2 cm, index 2.1; margins entire, glabrous; apex acute; glabrous; 3-nerved. Petals porrect, oblong, c. 0.21 by 0.1 cm, index c. 2.1; margins entire, minutely papillose; apex rounded; surface glabrous; 3-nerved. Lip slightly curved, ovate-oblong, slightly constricted at c. 1/3 of its length, c. 0.28 by 0.08 cm, index c. 3.5 (without spreading); margins entire, papillose at c. 1/3 of its length, otherwise glabrous; apex obtuse; thick; upper side concave near the base, slightly concave to the top; surface glabrous; underside with hardly a median furrow, convex, papillose but glabrous near base and apex. Column including stelidia c. 0.17 cm long; column foot widened, with slight, patent, obtuse lateral teeth; stigma narrowly elliptic with the basal edge slightly protruding; stelidia slightly downwards falcate, narrowly triangular, subulate to the top, c. 0.1 cm long, acute; pollinia not seen.

Bulbophyllum trivenosum J.J.Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel belongs in series B.

Bulbophyllum trivenosum J.J.Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel is most similar to Bulbophyllum ischnopus Schltr. and B. melinanthum Schltr.

Bulbophyllum trivenosum J.J.Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel differs from Bulbophyllum ischnopus Schltr. in the shorter and thicker papillae on the under surface of its lip and in the 3-nerved petals (versus 1-nerved).

Bulbophyllum trivenosum J.J.Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel differs from the secon B. melinanthum Schltr. by its oblong petals (versus ovate) and in the 3-nerved petals (versus 1-nerved).
