Type: Spence PSA:39 (holo NSW 860421, dried specimen; iso Spence PSA:39, NSW 860418, spirit mat.), from Papua New Guinea, Central Prov., Efogi

Epiphyte, semiĀ­-pendulous to pendulous or somewhat spreading, 12 to 28 cm long. Roots filiform, glabrous. Rhizome 0-0.02 cm long. Pseudobulbs 0.3-0.6 cm in diameter, cylindrical, finely longitudinally furrowed, to the base slightly attenuate. Leaves 1-2 per pseudobulb, lanceolate to elliptic, 12 -18 by 5-3 cm long; base cuneate; widest at or below the middle; apex acuminate. Inflorescence terminal or sub-terminal, shorter than the leaf, 10-14 cm long slender; peduncle thread-like, 5-6 by 0.15 cm; rachis slightly thickening, 2-4cm long, 4-6-flowered. Bracts thick, ovate or elliptic, c.0.2 cm long; apex shortly acuminate; glabrous. Lateral sepals, oblong, 1.2 by 0.6 cm; apex cuspidate. Median sepal oblong, c. 0.9 by c. 0.6 cm, shortly acuminate, apiculate to cuspidate at apex. Petals, obliquely lanceolate, c.0.9 cm long, 0.25-0.3 cm; apex acute or acuminate. Lip 3-lobed, 1.1 by 0.6 cm; hypochile 0.25 cm long including the rigid ligament at the column foot, c.0.7 cm wide across the tips of the lateral lobes, the lateral lobes falcate, elliptic, slightly tapering, in front rounded; epichile thick, fleshy, rigid, almost square, slightly cuneate, , 0.7cm long, 0.25 cm wide, at the base c.0.3 cm wide; apex in front truncate with the corners acutely erect, with 3 parallel ligulate, dilated, at the base confluent bands which are expanded and thickened in front. Column, broadly elliptical, hooded, slightly shorter than the lateral lobes of the lip; anther broadly elliptical, hooded, slightly truncate, glabrous. Ovary,thick for the size of the flower, almost cylindrical, 0.6 by 0.34-0.4 cm, tapering to a slender pedicel, 0.8 by 0.2 cm wide at the base.

Sepals and petals light apple green to almost olive-green. Lip much lighter to almost white, lower half tinged with soft pink.

Epiphytic on trees on the main trunk and in heavy boughs of fine live moss in low light in dense alpine forests. Altitude c. 1200 m.
