Dendrobium yondaliae Ormerod resembles D. polyschistum Schltr. and its allies in flower morphology, but differs in the fully covered internodes.
Dendrobium yondaliae Ormerod is also somewhat similar to the Australean D. baileyi F.Muell. in flower colour but differs in the lamellate keel on the hypochile (versus keels thick and cuneate in section).
Dendrobium yondaliae is named after the type locality, Yondalia.
