Dendrobium boridiense Ormerod, Checkl. Papuasian Orch. (2017) 176, 472 (fig.).
Type: Carr 10318 (holo A; iso BM, SING).
Synonyms:
Epiphytes, herbaceous. Roots numerous, forming a large mass, terete, to 0.2 cm thick. Rhizome short. Stem terete, laxly leafy, 50 by 0.55 cm. Leaves ovate-elliptic to oblong-lanceolate, thinly and stiffly coriaceous, 5.8-7.7 by 2.2-3 cm; leaf sheaths tubular, striate, minutely verruculose, 1.7-4.2 cm long, its apex with a triangular, acute, to 0.3 cm long lobe that is often split in the middle by the emergent inflorescence; apex subacute to subacuminate, minutely 2-lobed. Inflorescence 2-flowered; basal inflorescence scales: 1st transversely oblong, 5.8-7.7 by 2.2-3 cm, the other sheaths decayed. Pedicel and ovary subterete, 0.6 cm long. Median sepal very narrowly triangular, 1.47 by 0.22-0.25 cm, shallowly concave near the apex; apex subacute; 5 nerved. Lateral sepals linear from a dilated base, 1.38 by 0.47 cm, upper part 0.22 cm wide; apex subacute; 7-nerved; mentum incurved, obtuse, 0.38 cm long. Petals narrowly spatulate, weakly curved. 1.35 by 0.22 cm; apex subacute to obtuse; 5-nerved. Lip entire, oblongĀoblanceolate, 0.98 by 0.38 cm; lower 1/3 with entire margin, upper 2/3 with irregularly dentate/incised margin; median inside to about halfway with low, irregular, backwards directed lamellae; keels plate-like (number not given in type description), terminating before halfway the lip, in front of it with two narrow, rectangular, erect processes, and in front of these a narrowly oblong, thickened band with a transversely rugulose surface reaching the top of the lip, with median a row of warts; apex acute. Column stout, obliquely conical, 0.25 cm long (0.22 cm long without the anther); column foot incurved, 0.35 cm long.

Flowers with sepals and petals deep cream, minutely speckled dull lilac. Lip deep cream-colour, densely speckled dull lilac in transverse lines except for the keels and margin. Column pale yellow; column foot white tipped brown-purple with another brown-purple spot below the apex; anther cream-colour.
Probably terrestrials in Ericacea-Myrtaceae shrubbery around dry, open summit. Altitude 2835 m.

Dendrobium boridiense Ormerod is similar to D. falcatum J.J.Sm. but has an oblong-oblanceolate lip (versus rhombic to trapeziform) with a plate-like keel in the lower half (versus a thickened papillose ridge).
