Appendicula cyphochiloides is similar in habit and floral shape to A. rostrata, but differs in having petals with an entire margin that lack lobules at the base, a 4-lobulate basal callus, a truncate-2-lobulate (versus obtuse) lip apex with a callus below the tip.
Appendicula cyphochiloides resembles A. ancosiphila in the vegetative parts but is larger, has axillary inflorescences (versus pseudoterminal), much smaller floral bracts, a much more truncate lip with a subapical callus and a 4-lobulate main callus (versus bifid).
Appendicula cyphochiloides has similar flowers compared with A. anomala, but differs in the axillary inflorescences (versus pseudoterminal), much smaller floral bracts, and a 4-lobulate main callus (versus 2-lobed).
