Corybas huonensis S.P.Lyon, Malesian Orchid J. 18 (2016) 93, fig. 8-10.

Type: S.P. Lyon SPL 425 (holo L).

Terrestrial herb. Tuberoid and stem not observed. Leaf sessile, broadly cordate with well-developed auricles, c. 1.1 by 0.8 cm, glabrous; apex apiculate; nerves weak, reticulate, two lateral nerves on either side of the midrib, outermost nerves extending about halfway to the apex before anastomosing with inner lateral veins. Peduncle narrowly cylindrical, 1.2 cm long. Floral bract lanceolate, c. 0.2 cm long. Pedicel and vary narrowly cylindrical, 0.4 cm long, ribbed. Flower solitary, upright. Median sepal oblanceolate with a wide base, 0.9 by 0.25 cm, glabrous; apex acute, apiculate; 5 nerves at the base, two of these branching towards the apex, the midrib slightly crested, other nerves weak. Lateral sepals filiform, c. 1.25 cm long, emerging from behind the spurs. Petals filiform, c. 0.8 cm long. Lip from the tubular basal part curving slightly downwards and opening into a 0.4 cm wide, reniform blade c. 0.75 cm long when flattened; inner surface of blade glabrous; margin denticulate; opening to floral tube widely V-shaped; spurs triangular, c. 0.15 cm long,. Column upright, 0.2 by 0.1 cm; ventral pad 0.1 by 0.1 cm. Fruit not seen.

Leaf pale greyish-green throughout. Peduncle pale pink. Floral bract pink. Ovary reddish. Median sepal, lateral sepals and petals, and outer surface of lip tube solidly reddish purple; spurs paler red; inner surface of lip blade dark red.

Terrestrial on mossy slope in montane forest. Altitude c. 1500–1620 m.

Corybas huonensis is similar to C. puniceus Lin & Lin, but differis in the broader and shorter median sepal with more obtuse apex (not acuminate), the shorter and blunter spurs, the more reniform lip blade (versus ovate-deltoid) with the only slightly recurved lateral margins.
