Phreatia lalana Ormerod, Malesian Orchid J. 13 (2014) 64, fig. 14.

Synonyms:
Epiphytic herb. Roots terete, to 0.2 cm thick. Pseudobulbs obliquely ovoid, unifoliate, erect, 0.2–0.5 cm apart on rhizome, 1.4–2 by 8–1.2 cm. Leaves coriaceous, ligulate-oblanceolate, 9.5–23.7 by 1.1–2.9 cm; base long attenuate for 3–6 cm; leaf sheath petiole-like, to 2.7 cm long, articulate with the leaf and fused to the pseudobulb; apex acute. Inflorescence basal, erect, 19.5–34.3 cm long; peduncle 12.5–22 cm long; sheaths 7, lax, infundibuliform, obliquely truncate, 0.6–1.6 cm long; rachis densely many-flowered, 7–12.3 cm long; floral bracts ovate-elliptic, acute, 0.5 by 0.2–0.22 cm. Pedicel and ovary clavate, 0.5 cm long. Median sepal ovate, 0.28 by 0.19 cm; apex acute. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate, 0.32 by 0.29 cm (0.275 cm along the midnerve); apex acute. Petals obliquely ovate, 0.25 by 0.175 cm; lower margin obliquely deltate; apex acute to subacute. Lip subtrilobulate, ovate, 0.26 by 0.26 cm; claw semi-tubular, subsaccate at the base, with an ellipsoid, forward-pointing sac c. 0.06 cm long with obtuse apex; upper surface and margins papillose-farinose; base with 2 roughly circular papillose-farinose patches; apex acute. Column stout, c. 0.095 cm long; column foot 0.11 cm long.

Phreatia lalana has similar flowers as P. vandenbergiae but has 1-foliate pseudobulbs (not 2–3-leaved), flowers with deltate-lobed lower margins of the petals (versus rounded), and a subtrilobulate, papillose-farinose margined lip blade (versus entire and glabrous).
