Species Information - Glomera appendiculoides

Glomera appendiculoides Ormerod, Malesian Orchid J. 16 (2015) 57, fig. 5.

Type: T.M. Reeve 1717 (holo AMES, iso K, LAE, NSW).

Synonyms:

Epiphytic herb. Roots terete, 0.03-01 cm thick. Rhizome creeping; internodes 0.4-1.9 cm long. Stems terete, slender, 7.5-23.0 by 0.08-0.2 cm thick across the leaf sheaths; in lower half often rooting from nodes; above basal third laxly leafy; in upper part not branched or few-branched (branchlets to 12.7 cm long). Leaves patent, ovate to ovate-elliptic, thin coriaceous, 0.35-1.1 by 0.2-0.55 cm; l eaf sheaths tubular, truncate, opposite leaf lamina with a thinner membranaceous section, further laxly to subdensely transversely rugulose to verrucose, the exposed part 0.3-0.7 cm long; apex acute. lnflorescence terminal,semi-globose, densely 7-many-flowered, 1-1.5 by 1.5-2 cm; outer sheaths elliptic-suborbicular, to 0.75 by 0.6 cm; apex subacuminate. Pedicel-and ovary subcylindric to clavate, c. 0.45 cm long. Median sepal oblong-elliptic to obovate-elliptic, 0.45-0.6 by 0.24-0.29 cm, apex obtuse, minutely thickened; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate-elliptic, acute, 4-5-nerved, with each 4-5-nerves, their inner margins united to form a suborbicular synsepalum 0.53-0.6. by 0.68-0.75 cm with deeply retuse apex that forms a 0.23-0.3 cm long enclosure over the spur. Petals oblong to oblong­oblanceolate, 0.43-0.55 by 0.18-0.19 cm; apex obtuse; 3-nerved. Lip spurred, entire, joined to the column for c. 0.095 cm; spur oblongoid, 0.23-0.29 by 0.170-0.175 cm with obtuse apex; epichile widely ovate, projecting from spur for 0.095-0.1 cm, 0.18 cm wide when not spread, with subacute apex, 7-nerved. Column 0.175-0.195 cm long; arms deltate to lanceolate with acute apex.
