Dendrobium brinkmanii Ormerod, Malesian Orchid J. 16 (2015) 54, fig.

Synonyms:
Epiphytic herb. Rhizome short. Roots terete, 0.05-0.1 cm thick. Stems slender, slightly thicker higher up, simple, leafy, 10-32 cm by 0.1-0.3 cm; internodes 0.7-1.5 cm long. Leaves lanceolate, 3.5-6.7 by 0.9-1.3 cm; apex acute; papyraceous; leaf sheaths tubular, truncate, striate. Inflorescences axillary, on leafless stems, 5-6-flowered, to 0.6 cm long. Floral bracts ovate lanceolate, c. 0.45 cm long; apex acute. Pedicel and ovary narrowly clavate, c. 0.19 cm long. Median sepal obovate-elliptic, 0.88 by 0.49 cm; apex obtuse; 4-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate-triangular, c.1 by 1.25 cm, joined at the front for c. 0.8 cm; apex obtuse; 7-nerved; mentum conical, obtuse, 1.05 cm long. Petals oblong-oblanceolate, 0.8 by 0.38 cm ; apex obtuse; 3-nerved. Lip clawed, not lobed, c. 1.05 cm by 0.5 cm (c. 1 cm wide when spread), joined to the column-foot for 0.5 cm forming a tubular nectary; apical half deeply concave-cucullate; upper side margins curved, truncate (in lateral view); apical margins shortly erose; terminus parallel to stigma. Column short, stout, c. 0.25 cm long, lateral margins with a low deltate wing.

Dendrobium brinkmanii Ormerod is similar to D. cuculliferum J.J. Sm., but differs in the shorter mentum, lateral sepals which are less connate in front (0.8 versus 1.37 cm), and the shorter lip that is connate to half the length of the column-foot (not the entire length).
