Type: Carr 17213 (holo BM; iso L).

Epiphytic? herb. Roots terete, fleshy, pubescent, to 0.2 cm thick. Stems caespitose, complanate, laxly 8-9 leaved, 49.5-53 by 0.5-0.6 cm; covered by leaf sheaths but upper internodes for up to 6.7 cm of exposed. Leaves linear-ligulate, 6-35 by 0.75-1.3 cm; leaf sheaths exposed part to 0.95 by, 0.75-0.95 cm; stipules deltate, acute, to 0.1 cm wide; apex bidentate to tridentate; thinly coriaceous. lnflorescence terminal, globose, composed of numerous bracts, sheaths and flowers, 2-2.2 by 2-2.2 cm. Pedicel and ovary clavate, , c. 0.52 cm long. Median sepal elliptic, 0.57 by 0.28 cm; apical third carinate; apex acute; 5-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate-lanceolate, 0.73 by 0.3 cm (0.63 cm along the midrib); upper half thickly carinate; apex subacute; 6-nerved. Petals narrowly elliptic, 0.49-0.57 by 0.19-0.21 cm; apex subacute; 3-nerved. Lip 3-lobed, 7.3-7.5 mm long; hypochile c. 0.3 by 0.1 cm, retrorse saccate, the sac c. 0.1 cm long, with obliquely truncate lateral lobes; ligula subquadrate, bidentate to tridentate, minutely papillose-pubescent; epichile trilobulate, trapeziform, 0.42-0.52 by 0.42-0.5 cm, its base with 2 narrowly oblong calli, midlobule c. 0.1 by 0.22 cm, its apex bilobulate emarginate. Column obliquely erect, 0.29 cm long (0.215 cm long without anther cap).

Not recorded.

Agrostophyllum carrianum is similar to A. daymanense Ormerod in habit and labellum shape but it differs in the oblique lateral lobes of the hypochile (not rounded- truncate) and the much more slender column with a retrorse substigmatic appendage (not perpendicular).
