Vernacular name: Norumb (Kalam Language, Madang Province).

Peristylus norumbus is similar to P. tradescantiifolius but it occurs at higher altitude (1750-2400 m versus 0-1000 m) and has obovate-elliptic, oblong-elliptic to ovate-lanceolate leaves (not lanceolate), lateral sepals with a distinct claw that is entirely united to the sides of the lip (versus without claw and only the upper edge united to the sides of the lip and column) and a lip with shorter (0.275-3 versus 0.35-0.7 cm), straight- tipped lateral lobes (versus curled-tipped).

Peristylus norumbus is also similar to P. Iisteroides (Schltr.) P.F. Hunt but that has paired leaves, mucronate lateral sepals without claw, a shorter spur (0.35 cm versus 0.5- 0.675 cm) and a lip with a tooth-like callus.
