Calanthe crispifolia Ormerod, Orchadian 16 (2010) 418, fig.
Type: L.J. Brass 9012 (holo AMES).
Synonyms:
Terrestrial herb. Stem very short. unifoliate, rooting at base. Leaf probably immature, ovate-oblong, c. 3.5 by 1.4 cm: apex acute; margin crispate. Inflorescence axillary, terete, c. 57.7 cm long, pubescent; peduncle c. 32 cm by 0.25 cm, with 2, remote, tubular, obliquely truncate, sheathing scales 1.30-1.65 cm long; rachis laxly many-flowered, 25.7 cm long; floral bracts ovate to lanceolate to oblong-lanceolate, 0.4-0.9 by 0.2 cm, with acute apex. Pedicel and ovary clavate, 0.8 cm long, shortly and finely pubescent. Flowers resupinate. Medianl sepal erect to reflexed, elliptic, 0.52 by 0.3 cm; apex emarginate; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals reflexed, obliquely elliptic, 0.5 by 0.28-0.29 cm; apex subacute; 3-nerved. Petals obliquely attached to the base of the column, projecting forward under the side of the lip, ligulate oblanceolate, 0.5 by 0.175 cm; apex obtuse; 1-nerved. Lip joined to the column for c. 0.25 cm, spurred, 3-lobed, somewhat fleshy, free part c. 0.28 by 0.39 cm across the lateral lobe tips; spur subcylindric clavate, obtuse, directed backwards, curved slightly downward to upward, 1.1 cm long; midlobe subquadrate, 0.13-0.14 by 0.18 cm, with shortly bilobed-emarginate apex; lateral lobes obliquely oblong-elliptic, 0.19-0.2 cm long from outer base to apex, with obtuse apex; callus consisting of three thick, short keels, barely projecting from between apical lobes of column. Column broadly and obliquely dilated, c. 0.35 by 0.2 cm.

Calanthe crispifolia is similar to C. aruank van Royen but is 1-leaved (not 4-leaved), has a subquadrate lip midlobe (not narrowly obcordate-bilobed) and a very short callus (versus callus continuing almost to the lip apex).
