Type: Womersley NGF 9412 (holo AMES; iso LAE).

Terrestrial herb up to 85 cm tall. Leaves suberect, narrowly lanceolate, 5—7, 25—40 by 2—3 cm; petiole 8—15 cm long, slender; apex acuminate. Inflorescence several-flowered, up to 85 cm tall; peduncle 70—75 cm long, densely pubescent, bearing two acute to acuminate, suberect scale leaves; floral bracts spreading, lanceolate, 0.4—0.9 by 0.1—0.15 cm, pubescent, with acuminate apex. Flowers resupinate, sepals and petals strongly reflexed, glabrous on outer surface of sepals. Pedicel with-ovary 0.8—0.9 cm long, very shortly pubescent. Median sepal cucullate, elliptic 0.5—0.6 by 0.3 cm; apex obtuse. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong-ovate, 0.6—0.65 by 0.3 cm; apex obtuse. Petals obovate, 0.55 by 0.22 cm; apex obtuse; 1-nerved. Lip spreading to deflexed, 3- lobed 0.75 by 0.8 cm; lateral lobes obliquely obovate, 0.55 by 0.35 cm long, with rounded apex; midlobe broadly obtriangular, 0.7 by 0.6 cm, deeply bilobulate, each lobule 0.4—0.5 cm long; callus small, consisting of 3 tapering rows of warts; spur cylindrical-clavate, rising above the ovary, 1 cm long. Column very dilated at apex, 0.3 cm long.

Leaves dark green, paler below. Flowers white with green lateral sepals.

Terrestrial in sunny spots in montane forest. Altitude 2200 m.

Calanthe womersleyi is allied to C. lutiviridis P. Royen but differs in the green flowers with a white lip, lip lobes which are broad, and the clavate spur which ascends above the ovary. It is also similar to C. polyantha Gilli in lip shape but in that species the spur is scarcely 0.1—0.2 cm long, and never clavate.
