Calanthe goodenoughiana Ormerod & P.J.Cribb, Malesian Orchid Journal 8 (2011)48, fig. 6.
Type: Brass 25041 (holo AMES).
Synonyms:
Terrestrial herb up to 80 cm tall. Leaves suberect, narrowly elliptic-lanceolate, 3, 45—60 by 5.5—6 cm; apex acuminate; petiole up to 28 cm long, slender. Inflorescence up to 80 cm tall, densely many-flowered; peduncle 60—75 cm long, glabrous, bearing two small, sheathing, acuminate, spreading-suberect scale leaves; floral bracts spreading to upcurved, narrowly lanceolate, 1—2.3 by 0.1—0.2 cm, with acuminate apex, pubescent. Flowers resupinate, sepals and petals strongly reflexed, pubescent on outer surface of sepals. Pedicel-with ovary 1—1.1 cm long, pubescent. Median sepal cucullate, narrowly elliptic, 1.15 by 0.35 cm; apex acuminate. Lateral sepals slightly obliquely obovate-elliptic 1.2 by 0.35 cm; apex acuminate. Petals narrowly linear-oblanceolate, 1 by 0.1 cm; apex acute; one-nerved. Lip spreading to slightly deflexed, 3-lobed, 0.6 by 0.85 cm; lateral lobes spreading, tapering-oblong, 0.25 by 0.15—0.2 cm, rounded at apex; midlobe broadly obtriangular 0.3 by 0.4 cm; apex apiculate; callus small, consisting of 3 tapering lines of warts; spur cylindric, curving above the ovary, upcurved, 0.6—0.7 cm long. Column dilated from a slender base, 0.8—0.9 cm long.

Leaves dark above green, paler below Flowers white or greenish white.
Terrestrial in montane forest in undergrowth on bank of stream. Altitude c. 900 m.

Calanthe goodenoughiana is distinct from other Calanthe species by the shape of its three-lobed lip in which the midlobe is broadly spatulate with a long claw and a prominent apicule.
