Calanthe ligo P.J.Cribb, Malesian Orchid Journal 4 (2009) 10, fig. 6
Type: Van Royen & Sleumer 7638 (holo L).
Synonyms:
Terrestrial herb up to 45 cm tall. Leaves suberect, 5, up to 24 by 2.8 cm;;basal two reduced to sharp slender sheaths; upper 3 lanceolate or narrowly elliptic, acuminate; petiole up to 6 cm long, slender. Inflorescence up to 6-flowered; peduncle up to 40 cm long, bearing two small lanceolate acuminate sterile bracts, sparsely pubescent; rachis up to 6 cm long, sparsely pubescent. Floral bracts narrowly ovate, 0.3—0.5 by 0.1—0.2 cm, acuminate. Flowers possibly non-resupinate. Dorsal sepal reflexed, narrowly elliptic, 0.9 by 0.4 cm; apex acute. Lateral sepals reflexed, slightly obliquely oblong-elliptic, 0.8 by 0.3 cm; apex; acute. Petals reflexed, narrowly oblong-elliptic, 0.8 by 0.3 cm; acute. Lip deflexed, borne at a right angle to the spur, convex, entire, broadly oblong-subreniform, emarginate; callus bilobed; with a few small warts in front of column; spur 1.5—1.6 cm long, clavate, more or less straight or very slightly sigmoid. Column 0.3 cm long, dilated abruptly from a narrower base.

Calanthe ligo shares the entire lip with C. pullei J.J.Sm. and C. reflexilabris J.J.Sm. from Papua and C. kaniensis Schltr and C. coiloglossa Schltr. from Papua New Guinea. It differs in the smaller flowers (sepals to 0.9 cm against 1.2 cm or more); the first 3 have a pubescent ovary.
