specimens), 1-leaved. Leaf oblong to narrowly oblong, 1.3–2.5 by 0.4–0.5 cm; base short cuneate; apex obtuse, minutely bilobulate, mucronate, mucro longer than the lobules. Inflorescences adaxial and abaxial; solitary or in asynchronous pairs. Main basal bract obliquely tubular, c. 0.4 cm long. Peduncle c. 0.4 cm long. Median sepal narrowly ovate to ovate-oblong, 0.38–0.54 by 0.14–0.25 cm; apex obtuse, patent; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals ovate-oblong, 0.42–0.58 by 0.2–0.29 cm; free part (i.e. without the part forming the mentum) obtuse, patent; 3-nerved; mentum cylindrical, straight, almost entirely closed, 0.45 cm long, with obtuse apex. Petals patent-porrect, linear-lanceolate, 0.46–0.58 by 0.11–0.13 cm; margins entire; apex acute; 1-nerved. Lip 3-lobed, spathulate, glabrous, 0.73–0.98 cm long; hypochile clawed, 0.55–0.68 by 0.49–0.59 cm across the lateral lobes, its claw linear, 0.3–0.38 by c. 0.1 cm, entirely adnate to the column-foot, the lateral lobes subrectangular, 0.14–0.18 by 0.16–0.22 cm, the apical margins erose, erect, the apex truncate; epichile broadly obcuneate, 0.21–0.28 by 0.28–0.34 cm; apical margins erose; apex broadly rounded-truncate, apiculate; callus triangular in outline, extending from the base of the epichile to a little below the middle, short pubescent-papillose, apparently with a pocket-like concavity at the base (artifact?). Column 0.1–0.16 cm long, glabrous; wings short, triangular, obtuse; clinandrium entire, median with a short obtuse tooth; column-foot 0.45 cm long, glabrous. Anther cucullate, 0.08 cm wide; apex slightly papillose; pollinia 0.06 cm long. Ovary and pedicel glabrous c. 1.5 cm long; 3-winged. Fruit elliptic in outline, 3-angular in cross-section, pointing downwards by the strongly curved pedicel. (after Schuiteman & de Vogel, 2009)

Epiphyte in moss cushions in heath-shrub vegetation (type) and in Xanthomyrtus-Podocarpus low mossy ridge forest. Altitude 1185–2100 m.

Dendrobium praemorsum is similar to D. goliathense J.J. Sm. in the relatively very broad, almost rectangular lateral lobes of the lip, but the latter has larger flowers with a spur-like mentum more than 1 cm long, and broadly obliquely ovate petals that are distinctly shorter than the median sepal.
