Synonyms:

Roots thin, white. Rhizome 0.3 cm thick, pendulous, branched, with white, coarsely ribbed bracts. Pseudobulbs 1.8 cm apart, to 16 mm long, ovoid, sharply quadrangular. Leaves almost sessile, lanceola.te, top acuminate, to 4.2 by 28 mm, flat, the, margins somewhat, recurved, smooth. Inflorescence very short, 1-flowered. Floral bracts short, 0.3 cm long. Pedicel and ovary together 1.1 cm long. Sepals equal, narrowly triangular, acute 0.8 by 0.3 cm wide. Petals reduced to a 0.04 cm wide strip at each side of the column, with a 0.2 cm long point at both ends, the upper point covered with 6 filiform, 0.5 cm long papillae, the lower with 4 appendages, between the two points several appendages of the same type. Lip spathulate, 0.3 by 0.15 cm, ventrally with a longitudinal slit which opens towards both ends and which is less deep towards the top, the top obtuse and warty, laterally with somewhat elliptic, dark red papillae. Column 0.2 cm long, with subobsolete stelidia.; stigma dropshaped with the rounded end towards the top of the column. (After Vermeulen, 1982)


Pseudobulbs light green suffused with red. Leaves darker green than the pseudobulbs, not shiny. Pedicel and ovary with some red spots. Sepals yellowish with red spots. Petals with green or brownish appendages. Lip reddish.

Epiphyte in lower montane forest.

Malesia (New Guinea).

Papua New Guinea (New Ireland).

Intermediate growing epiphyte.
