Type: Ledermann 8473 (holo B, lost).

Synonyms:

Rhizome very short. Stems crowded, erect, laterally compressed, unbranched, to 70 cm long, many-leaved. Leaf sheaths entirely covering the stem, lightly lined with raised veins. Leaves suberect, linear-ligulate, 3-6.5 by 0.5-0.7 cm, apex obtusely unequally bilobulate, below with 3 prominent veins. Inflorescences arising laterally from the stem, 1-flowered. Pedicel and ovary 0.5 cm long, lightly curved, clavate, glabrous. Flower not resupinated, c. 1 cm across. Dorsal sepal ovate-oblong, 0.7 cm long, obtuse. Lateral sepals obliquely triangular-ovate, 0.8 cm long, obtuse; mentum patent, 0.5 cm long, obtuse. Petals obliquely ligulate, 0.7 cm long, obtuse. Lip 3-lobed above the middle, 0.8 by 0.45 cm, with a shiny, slightly thickened, linear-oblong basal patch extending to near the middle; lateral lobes semioblong, short; midlobe suborbicular, 0.3 by 0.3 cm, margins subcrenulate. Column rather thick, lightly narrowed at the apex, 0.3 cm long, clinandrium 3-lobulate, the lateral lobules obliquely obtusely triangular, the median twice as long; column-foot 0.5 cm long.

Flower wine-red.

Epiphyte in lower montane forest. Altitude 1050 m.

New Guinea (endemic).
