Type: Schlechter 17551 (holo B, lost; iso G, L 2x).

Rhizome very short, roots elongated, filiform, flexuose, glabrous. Stems crowded, erect-patent, unbranched, slightly laterally compressed, 50 cm by 5 mm, densely many-leaved. Leaf sheaths 0.5 cm, entirely covering the stem. Leaves patent, oblong-ligulate, obliquely acutely narrowed to the apex, 6-8 by 1.5-2.5 cm, apex unequally subacutely bilobulate. Inflorescences arising seemingly from the leaf axils, short; peduncle very short; 2-flowered; spathe laterally compressed, semioblong, obtuse. Pedicel and ovary 1.5 cm long, slender, glabrous. Flowers c. 2 cm across. Dorsal sepal oblong, 1.4 cm long, apex obtuse. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, a little widened at the base, 1.4 cm long, apex obtuse; mentum short, obtuse. Petals obliquely oblong-elliptic, 1.3 cm long, apex obtuse. Lip 3-lobed near the middle, 1.1 by 0.65 cm, semioblong at the base, basal margins minutely serrulate, inside in basal half sparsely transversely rugulose, with a keel extending to below the apex; lateral lobes small, falcate-oblong, obtuse; midlobe suborbicular, 0.65 cm wide, with a short basal claw, apex broadly obtuse. Column short, rather thick, clinandrium 3-lobulate, the lateral lobules truncate, minutely serrulate, the median small, tooth-like; column-foot incurved. Anther rounded-cucullate, in front subretuse, glabrous.

Flower creamy yellow, the column-foot violet with an orange-red spot.

Epiphyte in hill forest. Altitude 500 m.

New Guinea (endemic).
