Epiphyte, patent, 120-140 cm long; rhizome very short, roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, minutely puberulous; stems unbranched, densely leafy, entirely covered by the closely appressed leaf-sheaths; leaves erect-patent, lanceolate- linear, apex obliquely subacute, glabrous, 12-18 cm long, near the middle 1.3-1.5 cm wide. Inflorescences lateral, 1-flowered, short; bracts and peduncle-scales lanceolate, acute, glabrous, about as long as or somewhat shorter than the ovary. Flowers glabrous. Sepals oblong, narrowly obtuse. Median sepal 1.5 cm long. Lateral sepals somewhat shorter, falcate, apiculate, lobed-dilated along the front margins, mentum inflated, broadly obtuse, 0.5 cm long. Petals obliquely oblong-ligulate, broadly obtuse, glabrous, somewhat shorter than the median sepal. Lip at the base semiorbicular-cuneate, 3-lobed above the middle, 0.75 cm long, below the apex 1.1 cm wide, with a thickened keel which extends from the basal fourth up to a transverse, subulate-apiculate scale at the base of the mid-lobe, in basal third of the lip with two very small, lateral, conical calli having a low rib which is decurrent towards the base, lateral lobes obliquely semi-oblong, obtuse, somewhat crenulate, mid-lobe distinctly longer, obreniform-subquadrate, somewhat transversely rugulose, in front 3-lobulate, lobules rounded, broadly obtuse, median lobule shorter than the lateral lobules. Column short, glabrous, column-foot at the apex with a 3-lobulate callus surrounded with many small warts, lateral lobes of the clinandrium shortly bidentate, median lobe obtuse, slightly longer. Anther reniform-cucullate, broadly obtuse, glabrous. Ovary sessile, glabrous, 1.3 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1911-1914)


Flower reddish white, outside at the base tinged red, lateral sepals inside in the front half yellow, lip with red lateral lobes.

Epiphyte in lowland forest. Altitude 200 m.

Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
