Epiphyte, erect, 25-30 cm high; rhizome very short; roots thin, filiform, elongated, flexuose, minutely puberulous; pseudobulbs cylindrical, at first covered with clasping sheaths which soon dry out, at apex 4-6-leaved, 9-16 cm high, above the middle 0.8-1.2 cm diameter; leaves erect-patent, ligulate or elliptic-ligulate, acute or subacute, at the base gradually subpetiolate-dilated, glabrous, 9-16 cm long, near the middle 1.1-2.8 cm wide; Inflorescence lateral, erect-patent, about half as long as the leaves, arising laterally near or below the apex of the pseudobulbs, rather densely many-flowered, peduncle short; bracts weakly recurved, elliptic, acute, about half as long as the ovary. Flowers erect-patent or patent, glabrous. Sepals oblong, apiculate, 0.7 cm long. Lateral sepals oblique, at the base somewhat dilated along the front margins, mentum very short, obtuse. Petals obliquely oblong-lanceolate, apiculate, 0.6 cm long. Lip in outline subpandurate, 0.35 cm long, below the middle 0.2 cm wide, above the middle 0.15 cm wide, in the middle somewhat constricted, below the middle with two somewhat divergent, low, short lamellae. Column semiterete, glabrous, 0.15 cm high, column-foot short, lateral lobes of the clinandrium truncate, median lobe rounded, low. Anther subreniform-cucullate, apiculate, glabrous. Flower light yellow, lip dark purple with yellow apex, column-foot reddish.

Epiphyte in montane forest. Altitude 900-1700 m.

Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
