Epiphytic, 13-23 cm high. Rhizome creeping, terete, covered with short tightly clasping sheaths; roots filiform, flexuose, smooth. Pseudobulbs distant, laterally compressed, ovate, c. 1 cm high, below the middle 0.5 cm wide, 1-leaved. Leaf linear, acute, at the base articulated with the sheath, 10-14 cm long, near the middle 0.5-0.7 cm wide, subcoriaceous, the leaf sheath tightly clasping the base of the peduncle, c. 2.5 cm long. Inflorescence terminal, erect, laterally compressed, usually almost as long as the leaf, without peduncle-scales; rachis short, distichous, usually spreading, oblong, obtuse, up to 5 cm long. Floral bracts overlapping, ovate, acute, conduplicate, dorsally sharply keeled, half as long or less than half as long as the pedicellate, ovary. Median sepal lanceolate-oblong, acuminate, reflexed, 0.4 cm long. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong-ovate, acuminate, as long as the median sepal but broader. Petals linear-subspathulate, acute, 0.4 cm long, erect. Lip at the base ascending, knee-like (almost abruptly) bent downwards, in apical half narrowed, ovate, 0.5 cm long, at the base 0.25 cm wide, near the middle 0.15 cm wide, subapiculate-acuminate, in the middle with a convex oblong callus and on either side at the base with a convex rounded callus. Column thick. Anther in front truncate. Ovary clavate, including the pedicel 1 cm long. (After Schlechter, 1905)

Epiphyte in lowland and lower montane forest; 100 to 1200 m.

Malesia (New Guinea, endemic).
