Type: Schlechter 18912 (holo B, lost)

Terrestrial, erect, 35-50 cm high. Rhizome very short; roots filiform, elongated, flexuose, finely pilose. Pseudobulbs ovoid, carnose, initially entirely at the base bus covered with the leaf-bases, usually subterranean, c. 2 cm long, below the middle 1 cm diam. Leaves 3-4, erect or erect-patent long petiolate; blade elliptic, acuminate, plicate, glabrous on both sides, at the base gradually narrowed into the long sheathing petiole, to 18 cm long, near the middle to 4 cm wide; petiole to 15 cm long. Inflorescence straight or nearly so, sharply angular, with a few very small bract-like scales, glabrous, more or less surpassing the leaves; rachis rather densely 4-10 flowered, erect, to 4 cm long. Floral bracts erect-patent lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous, sometimes shorter, sometimes longer than the flowers. Flowers erect-patent. Median sepal narrowly oblong-ligulate, obtuse, glabrous, 0.7 cm long. Lateral sepals obliquely oblong, obtuse, subfalcate, c. 0.5 cm long, glabrous. Petals narrowly linear, obtuse, oblique, glabrous, 0.6 cm long. Lip subcuneate-oblong, curved, about as long as the lateral sepals, below the apex 0.25 cm wide, with a broad longitudinal median groove, glabrous, at the base with a short, quadrate, apically minutely trilobulate callus, apex broadly obtuse, notched, minutely apiculate. Column curved, glabrous, towards the apex indistinctly auriculate, almost 0.4 cm long; Anther subreniform, obtuse, glabrous. Terrestrial in Imperata grassland; 45 to 300 m.
