Dendrobium wekainense Ormerod, Malesian Orchid J. 4 ( 2009) 53, fig. 4.

Type: Rees & Reeve 145 (holo K).

Rhizome, roots and lower part of stem not collected. Stem upper part subterete, to 19 by 0.10—0.15 cm, laxly leafy. Leaves erect, linear-lanceolate, 3.7—5.85 by 0.35-0.4 cm; sheaths to 1.7 cm long, tubular, striate, minutely transversely rugulose in apical quarter; opposite leaf axil with a 2—2.5 mm long subacute to obtuse lobule; apex unequally bidentate. Inflorescence 1-flowered; peduncle very short. Flowers not resupinate. Pedicel and ovary curved, thickly clavate, 0.3—0.35 cm long. Median sepal ovate, c. 0.5 by 0.25 cm; apex obtuse; 7-nerved. Lateral sepals obliquely ovate, c. 0.6 by 0.4—0.5 cm; apex obtuse; 7-nerved; mentum c. 4.5 mm long. Petals ligulate-oblanceolate, 5 by 1.2 mm; apex obtuse; 3-nerved. Lip obovate-elliptic, 0.7 cm long, membranous; claw cuneate, 0.27 cm long; blade separated from claw by a transverse fold, subquadrate, 0.43 by 0.42 cm; apex obtuse, with a slightly callose thickening. Column c. 0.2 cm long; column foot c. 0.5 cm long.

Dendrobium wekainense differs from D. integrum subsp. merianum, which also has a membranous lip, in the presence of a basal callus and the devision into a blade and claw by a transverse fold.
