Type: Kalkman & van Zanten 4390 (holo L; iso L [spirit mat.])

Rhizome short. Pseudobulbs crowded, terete, 2–5.2 by c. 0.15 cm, 1-leaved. Leaf narrowly oblong, 2.5–3.2 by 0.6–0.7 cm; base short cuneate; apex obtuse, minutely bilobulate, mucronate, mucro longer than lobules. Inflorescences adaxial and abaxial, solitary. Main basal bract tubular, c. 0.4 cm long. Peduncle c. 0.2 cm long. Median sepal reflexed, elliptic, 0.36 by 0.22 cm; apex acute; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals broadly oblong-elliptic, 0.4 by 0.24 cm; apex subacute, reflexed; 3-nerved; mentum conical, straight, 0.15 cm long, its apical closed part 0.1 cm, with obtuse apex. Petals recurved-circinate, narrowly linear, 0.26 by 0.02 cm; margins entire; apex obtuse; 1-nerved. Lip subspathulate, 3-lobed, glabrous; hypochile 0.24 by 0.13 cm just below the lateral lobes, at base 0.13 cm adnate to the column-foot, with incurved, entire, linear lateral lobes 0.13 by 0.03 cm with obtuse apex, connected by a low transverse lamella; epichile obcuneate, 0.22 by 0.23 cm, with entire margins, the apex deeply and sharply emarginate, usually with a short obtuse mucro in the sinus, the callus broadly ovate, papillose, extending from 0.03 cm above the base of the epichile to the apical mucro. Column strongly papillose at the apex, 0.15 cm long; wings narrow, uncinate, irregularly long-papillose, obtuse; clinandrium entire, median with a broad triangular tooth; column-foot 0.15 cm long, pilose. Anther cucullate, 0.12 by 0.15 cm, pubescent at the apex, thecae with elongated bases; pollinia not seen. Ovary and pedicel 1–1.3 cm long, 3-winged, glabrous. Fruit not seen.

Dendrobium reflexum is rather similar to D. mulderi; it differs in the deeply and sharply emarginate epichile, linear, undivided lateral lobes, the uncinate, long-papillose column-wings and the closed mentum. The petals are unusually narrow.
