Rhizome elongated, rooting, to at least 14 cm long, erect. Stems 2.3-4.2 cm apart, appressed to the rhizome, terete, grooved, 2.6-3.3 cm by 2.3 mm, 1-leaved. Leaves recurved, lanceolate, 3.7-4.5 by 0.75-0.93 cm, apex very shortly tridentate. Inflorescences terminal from the leaf axil as well as subterminal below the abaxial side of the leaf, 1-flowered. Pedicel 1.8 cm long, 6-angled; ovary 0.35 cm long, triangular in cross section, on either side with a lateral rib. Flower c. 1.2 cm across. Dorsal sepal reflexed, ovate, 0.6 cm by 3 mm, apex subacute. Lateral sepals with the free part obliquely elliptic, 0.66 cm by 4 mm, apex subacute; mentum incurved, obscurely 3-lobed, 0.3 cm long. Petals recurved, obliquely narrowly lanceolate, 0.55 cm by 1.5 mm, apex obliquely subtruncate, retuse. Lip 3-lobed at the base of the blade, clawed, including the claw 0.93 long, 0.4 cm wide across the lateral lobes, claw oblong, 0.4 cm by 1.3 mm, on both sides pubescent; lateral lobes small, falcate-incurved, linear-subulate, pubescent; midlobe with a short 0.16 cm wide claw, 0.53 by 0.83 cm, the blade obreniform, very fleshy, at its base with a 5-angular pubescent swelling, apex bilobulate, the lobules separated by a longitudinal groove, margins crenulate, apices of the lobules rounded. Column 0.3 cm long, papillose, stelidia triangular-tooth shaped, acute, longer than the triangular-subulate filament, sometimes with a tooth on the dorsal margin; column-foot incurved, oblong, 0.3 cm long.

Dendrobium pseudoaprinum J.J.Sm. is very distinctive by the elongated, erect rhizomes, and also by the small subulate lateral lobes of the lip.
