Dendrobium particolor Ormerod, Malesian Orchid J. 13 (2014) 51, fig. 8.

Synonyms:
Epiphytic herb. Roots terete. 0.05–0.1 cm thick. Stems terete, slender, laxly-leaved, to 110 cm by 0.10–0.25 cm; internodes 1.5–3.6 cm long; branches 2–3, to 15 cm long. Leaves thin, lineaer-lanceolate, 3.6–11.4 by 0.35–0.90 cm; leaf sheaths tubular, obliquely truncate, slightly inflated or loose apically, papery, breaking down and leaving long fibrous remnants; apex acute, 3–5-nerved. Inflorescence axillary, short, 3-flowered; floral bracts broadly ovate, acute, c. 0.35 cm long. Pedicel and ovary subterete-clavate, 1.8 cm long. Median sepal oblong-elliptic, 1.3 by 0.58 cm; apex obtuse; 5-nerved. Lateral sepals ovate-triangular, 1.3 by 1.6 cm, joined at the front for 0.4–0.6 cm; apex acute to subacute, 6-nerved; mentum conical, 1.4–1.5 cm long. Petals oblong, 1.1–1.19 by 0.43–0.45 cm; apex subacute to obtuse; 3-nerved. Lip clawed, not lobed, c. 1.8 by 0.55–0.6 cm (1.1–1.2 cm wide when spread), joined to the column foot for 1.1–1.2 cm to form a tubular, rhombic nectary (unspread, viewed from above), which is truncate in lateral view, which exceeds the column apex by c. 0.25–0.3 cm and is in the apical third deeply concave-cucullate with the apical margins erose to lacerate. Column short, stout, c. 0.3 cm long (c. 0.3.5 cm long with anther cap); lateral margins with a low deltate wing.
Sepals and petals partly coloured orange-red and partly purple.
Common low epiphyte in mossy forest, 2000 m.

Dendrobium particolor is similar to D. keytsianum J.J. Sm. but differs in having slightly narrower leaves, shorter floral bracts, a narrower )sepal, a shorter mentum, and a shorter lip, while the colours are purple (lower part?) and orange-red (upper part?) (versus orange and yellow like in D. subclausum.
