Bulbophyllum farciminiferum J.J.Verm., Schuit. & de Vogel, Lankesteriana 20(3) (2020) 319, fig. 12, 18A
Type: Jongejan cult. 1700 (holo L).
Synonyms:
Rather small pendulous epiphyte. Roots growing backwards over the rhizome to its base. Rhizome patent, sparsely branched to 15 by 0.11–0.15 cm, new shoot from the basal node of the pseudobulb; rhizome scales thin, withering soon. Pseudobulbs distinct, to 0.8 cm apart, ellipsoid to obovoid, 0.6–0.9 by 0.2–0.3 cm, hardly angular but deeply concave on the side where the new shoot arises. Leaf: petiole 0.13—0.22 cm long; blade succulent, terete with a shallowly concave furrow on the upper side, ellipsoid to cylindrical, 1.2–2.7 by 0.27–0.32 cm, index 4.4–8.4; apex obtuse to acute. Inflorescences densely clustered, from the first node below the pseudobulbs, c. 1 cm long, 1-flowered; peduncle c. 0.1 cm long; scales 1; floral bracts c. 0.33 cm long. Flowers: pedicel and ovary c. 0.24 cm long; basal node c. 0.18 cm above the floral bract attachment. Median sepal free, recurved, ovate, c. 0.52 by 0.16 cm, index 3.2–3.3; margins entire, ciliolate; apex acuminate; surface glabrous; 3-nerved. Lateral sepals free, recurved, ovate, c. 0.53 by 0.19 cm, index 2.7–2.8; margins entire, ciliolate; apex acuminate; surface glabrous; 3-nerved. Petals porrect, obovate, c. 0.15 by 0.06 cm, index c. 2.5; acuminate; margins entire, papillose-ciliate, surface at the top finely papillose; 1-nerved. Lip straight, thick, oblong, c. 0.32 by 0.1 cm, index c. 3.2 (without spreading); margins entire, vesiculate with elongated vesicles near the base, glabrous at the top; apex obtuse; upper side concave close to the base, this cavity to the front bordered by two short, converging ridges in front of which the upper surface is slightly concave, slightly convex in the top half of the lip, upper surface papillose towards the edges in the basal half, with larger vesicles close to the edge; underside slightly convex and papillose in the basal half, slightly concave and glabrous elsewhere. Column including stelidia c. 0.13 cm long; column foot at the top with spreading, rounded lateral teeth; stigma elliptic; stelidia somewhat upwards falcate, narrowly triangular, c. 0.06 cm long, acute; pollinia 4, the inner two more than half as long as the outer.
(after Vermeulen et al., 2020)
Sepals pale purple, white along the margins. Petals white. Lip purple, apex green, papillae pale purple, the larger ones white. Column white. Pollinia white.
