Genus Liparis section Platychilus
Synonyms:
Rhizome parts very short to rather long. Pseudobulbs close together to wide apart, short or elongated. Leaves not herbaceous, without articulation between leaf sheath and blade (but in some species after drying with a demarcation line between leaf and pseudobulb), which slowly rot on the pseudobulbs or stems leaving a tuft of long persistent stiff fibers surrounding the top of the pseudobulb. Lip of various shapes, but never sharp, knee-like bent. Column slightly bent, not conspicuously elongated.
Liparis sect. Platychilus should probably be merged with Liparis sect. Platyglossum
