Synonyms:
Stems much elongated. Leaf blades not articulated with the sheaths, leathery. Flower axis distinctly bent causing the flowers, which are in almost all sections parallel to the rachis, to bend to the top of the inflorescence. Petals often with serrate margins. Lip with a very broad base with very short auricles, narrowed to the apex.

In Oberonia sections Hymenobractea and Platystrepus the flower axis is bent upwards causing the flowers to turn their front to the top of the inflorescence. In all other sections the flower axis is not bent and the front of the flower is parallel to the rachis,
