Genus Liparis section Genychilus

Genus Liparis section Genychilus Type species: Liparis genychila Schltr.

Plants usually slender. Pseudobulbs 1-leaved at the apex. Leaves not herbaceous, without articulation between leaf sheath and blade, which slowly rot on the pseudobulbs or stems leaving a tuft of long persistent stiff fibers surrounding the top of the pseudobulb. Lip clearly 3-lobed, with a pronounced big callus, between the lateral lobes sharply knee-like bent. Column in most species strongly elongated, never winged, median usually terete in section, in front sharply grooved.
