Synapomorphic

Cladogram of six taxa, t1 to t6, with character states indicated by bullets; the characters states 4 and 10 are synapomorphic with respect to the red taxa t3, t4, t5, and t6. It is important to note that in a cladogram only comprising the red taxa the character states 4 and 10 would be called symplesiomorphic.
